The spoon-billed sandpiper is a small wetland bird that spends winter in the wetlands of south Asia, and migrates to it's breeding grounds in the Russian tundra. Threatened with extinction, it is the focus of many conservation programmes.

 

Material

The sculpture is cast from a silicone mould using polyurethane resin and Jesmonite. It is a stylised spoon-billed sandpiper in the act of feeding, on a base depicting rippled water. The bird is painted using acrylic inks, and the base is painted using jesmonite sealer mixed with acrylic inks.

Maintenance

The sculpture can be cleaned with a soft cloth.
